Significant traffic impacts in downtown core during La Machine

crop_july28_allday_engResidents are advised to expect traffic delays in the downtown core during La Machine.

La Machine, an Ottawa 2017 Signature Event, will occur in downtown Ottawa and the ByWard Market from Thursday, July 27 to Sunday, July 30. This event, a first in North America, will bring giant mechanical creatures, thousands of visitors and intermittent traffic impacts to Ottawa’s downtown.

On Friday morning at approximately 10 a.m., Long Ma, the dragon-horse, will awaken at City Hall and depart for the National Gallery where he will meet Kumo, the giant spider, who will already be in the area.

Friday morning impacts include closures on Laurier Avenue between Elgin Street and Nicholas Street, Queen Elizabeth Drive between Somerset Street and Laurier Avenue, Elgin Street between Wellington Street and Gloucester Street and Queen Street between Metcalfe Street and Elgin Street.

Friday afternoon impacts include closures on Queen Street between Metcalfe Street and Elgin Street, Laurier Avenue between Metcalfe Street and Nicholas Street and Queen Elizabeth Driveway between Somerset Street West and Laurier Avenue.

Friday evening impacts include closures on Laurier Avenue between Elgin and Nicholas, Queen Elizabeth Driveway between Somerset Street West and Laurier Avenue, Nicholas Street between Daly Avenue and Laurier Avenue and Elgin Street between Wellington Street and Laurier Avenue.
